Rupert Struber
Rupert Struber is considered to be one of the most
interesting multi-percussionists of Austria's new generation. Following
his initial education at a music school and successful graduation from
the Hallein High School, his particularly well-developed musical talents
led him to the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, where they were
fostered by Peter Sadlo.
He feels at home with all percussion instruments, in a variety of
combinations; his special interest is focused on the combination of
individual percussion instruments and the study of the resulting sounds.
A large number of performances as soloist (nationally and
internationally, at festivals such as the Carinthische Sommer, the
Chamber Music Festival of Plovdiv, among others), as chamber musician (worldwide
performances with the Via Nova Percussion Group, national and
international percussion duo projects, numerous chamber music projects,
among others together with Adriana Hölzky, Gidon Kremer, Mario Brunello,
and Peter Sadlo), and also as orchestral musician (Philharmonie der
Nationen, Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg), have turned him into a multi-talented
artist.
Rupert Struber has won two prizes at the international Competition for
Percussion Instruments Pendim in Plovdiv/ Bulgaria, as soloist (2005)
and in duo (2007). In 2005 he won, together with the Via Nova Percussion
Group, the first prize as well as two further awards at the
International Percussion Competition Luxemburg.
